Pastor Mat and his wife Mallory have been married since 2012 after they met and fell in love at Oakland City University.

Pastor Mat grew up just south of Indianapolis and went to Oakland City University in 2008 on a tennis scholarship where they also convinced him to run for the cross country team. This is where his love for running really blossomed, and he now uses that as a way to continually develop is self-discipline and use it as a direct comparison for the Christian journey. Upon graduation, Mat married his best friend, Mallory, (who had already graduated from OCU with a business degree) and moved his new family unit to Missouri to work in the international ministries office at the General Baptist denominational headquarters even though the Tri-State remained "home" as it was where his heart was. After working in Missouri and building relationships, he was asked by a future church planter to move to Cookeville, TN and help him "launch" the newest General Baptist Church. It was a great learning experience and a fantastic time reaching the south for Jesus, but like his favorite athlete who decided to go home and recently helped his city get the much awaited championship, Pastor Mat knew it was time to come "home" to the Tri-State to help his city acquire the most precious prize: a relationship with Jesus Christ.
