Importance of Research
Importance for Research
Here is a quick story an explanation to prove why research is so important:
I love adventure.
Somehow, I stumbled upon a town in the geographical middle of Australia. It seemed like an adventure to go to Alice Springs. I thought it would be cool if I just packed my bags and went on a one week excursion to the middle of the outback. However, upon a quick Google search, I discovered that Alice Springs is the lesbian capital of Australian, with 20% of the town’s population toting the claim and lifestyle. Had I not researched this city even for a second, it would have seemed a little peculiar when I told people I chose Alice Springs for my isolated research and writing location.
Our church has prayed and invited our geographical and relational neighbors all of 2017 to our Thanksgiving meal. The goal was to gather friends and families around one communal table to strengthen Titus 2 type relationships. Our congregants shared their stories in invitation form.
If the story approach remains one-sided, then it lacks contextualization. We do not know the history of the person. When talking with someone, we need to know their story. Who they are. Where they came from. What their goals and desires are.
The adventure is in the research. It allows us to know what we are really getting, so we can ensure a positive trip. Let us take some research based trips in our relationships.
Hope to see you tomorrow at 10:30!
