Week 3 2 study #s...part 1
I really wanted to wait until tomorrow to write this because my 2nd grade math teach told me that 11+7=18…but in the name of consistency, 2sday is the day 4 our 3rd week of our series on #s. I encourage you to read the previous 2 blogs to get a good understanding of where it has been and where we are going in this series.
Chapter 1 starts by telling us the roster. It is like when the lights go out at the stadium and the announcer, in a big booming voice, declares the name and numbers of the home team. For me, a Cleveland Sports fan, it reminds me of the times I have been at Quicken Loans Arena for LeBron James and company to play in the playoffs. The announcer tells the size, the name, the college (or high school for guys like LeBron) for each of the players. To get more specifics about the players’ histories over the years, one must either read the booklet given out by the greeters at the door or read the players’ basketball cards.
Some people don’t care about numbers. They don’t care how many assists someone had last week. That is how we often look at this book of Numbers. We skip the first few chapters because it spends its time telling us about the stats from days gone by. Do we care? Should we care? For me, the answer is yes. Basketball stats allow us to see where we have been and where we are going. The stats in the book of Numbers allow us to see how God set the stage for the wandering in the wilderness.
So, here’s the question: do you care about your stats? What are your stats? Where have you been? What is the thing for which God is preparing you? Ok, so that was more than one question, but you get the point. Foundation is important because it is God. He is ALWAYS what we need, but we must have a reality and a mental transition so that He becomes what we need, meaning the breath we breathe.
Looking back of the successes and failures of yourself, your family, and your community and country allows you to begin to understand what you should expect in the near future.
